How do Regalia Gold and Atlas points move to KrisFlyer?

Regalia Gold sends 2 points for 1 KrisFlyer mile, capped at 50,000 points a month. Atlas sends 1 EDGE Mile for 2, capped at 30,000 a year. The arithmetic.

Both cards send points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, at opposite ratios. HDFC Regalia Gold converts 2 reward points into 1 KrisFlyer mile. Axis Atlas converts 1 EDGE Mile into 2 KrisFlyer miles. On ₹1,00,000 of ordinary spend, Regalia Gold ends up with 1,250 KrisFlyer miles and Atlas with 4,000. The transfer limits favour Regalia Gold instead: it can move up to 50,000 points a month, and Atlas can move 30,000 EDGE Miles a year to KrisFlyer and 17 other partners combined.

How Regalia Gold points get to KrisFlyer

Regalia Gold earns 5 reward points per ₹200 on ordinary spend. Fuel, rent and wallet loads earn nothing. At 2:1, those 5 points become 2.5 KrisFlyer miles. So ₹1,00,000 of spend earns 2,500 points, and those 2,500 points become 1,250 miles.

The quicker way to build a KrisFlyer balance on this card is SmartBuy, HDFC’s travel portal. Flights booked there earn 25 points per ₹200 (5X) and hotels earn 50 per ₹200 (10X). The extra points have their own ceiling: 2,000 a day and 4,000 a calendar month across all SmartBuy categories. Spend beyond that earns the base 5 per ₹200.

Partner transfers are made on SmartBuy too. The card record caps them at 50,000 points a month, which is 25,000 KrisFlyer miles. HDFC lists the conversion as taking 1 to 3 days. HDFC’s own page values a point at up to 0.5 airmiles, which is the same 2:1 ratio stated another way.

How Atlas EDGE Miles get to KrisFlyer

Atlas earns 2 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on ordinary spend. Flights and hotels booked directly with the airline or hotel, or through Axis Travel EDGE, earn 5 per ₹100. That travel rate covers the first ₹2,00,000 of combined travel spend in a month, then drops back to 2. A booking made through a travel agent or an online travel site earns the base 2.

At 1:2, each EDGE Mile becomes 2 KrisFlyer miles. So direct travel earns 10 KrisFlyer miles per ₹100, and ordinary spend earns 4. On ₹1,00,000 of direct travel, Atlas earns 5,000 EDGE Miles, which convert to 10,000 KrisFlyer miles. The same amount of ordinary spend earns 2,000 EDGE Miles, which convert to 4,000 miles.

Atlas lists KrisFlyer transfers as taking up to 10 working days, against up to 1 working day for British Airways, Qatar and Finnair, so leave room for the longer wait.

The fine print: Atlas’s Group A limit

On ratio alone Atlas earns KrisFlyer miles far faster, but Axis puts its transfer partners in two groups. KrisFlyer is in Group A. Group A takes a maximum of 30,000 EDGE Miles per customer in a calendar year, shared across 18 partners: KrisFlyer, Air India Maharaja Club, both Avios programmes, Flying Blue, Accor and the rest. Group B has its own separate limit of 1,20,000 EDGE Miles. Total transfers across both groups top out at 1,50,000 a year.

So the most KrisFlyer miles Atlas can produce in a year is 60,000, and only if nothing else in Group A gets any of the allowance. Earning 30,000 EDGE Miles at the travel rate takes ₹6,00,000 of direct travel spend. EDGE Miles above that can still go to Group B partners, or be spent on Axis’s own travel bookings, but not to KrisFlyer.

Regalia Gold’s limit resets every month, and at 25,000 KrisFlyer miles a month the earn rate runs out long before the cap does. A Regalia Gold balance grows slowly; an Atlas holder hits the Group A ceiling quickly and then stops.

Axis has paused new Atlas applications, so this comparison only matters to people who already hold the card. The catalog gives KrisFlyer miles from either card the same value, ₹0.90 a mile. On that valuation, the 1,250 miles from ₹1,00,000 of Regalia Gold spend are worth about ₹1,125, and the 10,000 miles from the same amount of direct Atlas travel spend about ₹9,000, until the Group A limit is reached.

What to check on your own statement

For Regalia Gold, look at how many SmartBuy bonus points the month has already used. A booking made after the 4,000-point monthly cap earns 5 per ₹200, not 25 or 50. Then check the points balance before transferring, and allow the 1 to 3 days before you book the award seat.

For Atlas, check two things. First, how much of the ₹2,00,000 monthly travel band is already used, because spend past it earns 2 per ₹100. Second, how much of the year’s 30,000 Group A allowance has gone to other partners. A transfer to Air India or Avios earlier in the year leaves less for KrisFlyer. On either card, transfers go one way, so find the award seat before converting.

The catalog records for both cards are below this guide, dated. Krediit tracks both balances against their caps and shows how many KrisFlyer miles each card’s points would become before you make the transfer.
