Swiggy ORNGE and Swiggy BLCK differ from the original Swiggy HDFC card mostly in the Swiggy rate. BLCK keeps the 10% on the Swiggy app with the same ₹1,500 ceiling per billing cycle, for a ₹1,000 annual fee. ORNGE keeps the ₹500 fee and pays 5% on the Swiggy app instead, also capped at ₹1,500. Both new cards widen the 1% ceiling from ₹500 to ₹1,000 and change which online merchants earn 5%.

If your card is being replaced by one of the two, this page lists what moves and what stays.

The Swiggy rate, and what fills its ceiling

On the original card and on BLCK, ₹15,000 of Swiggy app spend in a cycle reaches the ₹1,500 ceiling. On ORNGE the same ceiling needs ₹30,000, twice the spend, so on that card the lower rate costs more than the cap does.

Food delivery, Instamart and Dineout count on all three cards. Payments with the Swiggy Money Wallet and Swiggy Liquor are excluded on all three. The original card’s terms also exclude Swiggy Minis; the new cards’ conditions name only the wallet and Liquor.

The minimum order changes. The original card’s Swiggy tier starts at ₹100. On ORNGE and BLCK it starts at ₹249, so a small order that used to earn 10% earns nothing from the Swiggy tier on either new card.

The 5% tier has a different merchant list

All three cards pay 5% on online spends by merchant category code, and the lists overlap without matching.

Kept on the new cards: apparel, pharmacies, pet stores, personal care, cabs and electronics.

Dropped: department stores, entertainment, home decor and discount stores. On the original card, grocery at code 5411 earned 5% at Amazon and Flipkart only. That line is gone.

Added: travel, at codes 4111, 4112, 4121, 4131, 4722 and 7011.

The bigger change is a named merchant list. On ORNGE and BLCK, Amazon, Flipkart, Nykaa, Cleartrip, Ajio, Netflix, Hotstar, BookMyShow and Meesho earn 5% on any online transaction outside the excluded codes, whatever code the order settles under. On the original card a purchase at those sites earned 5% only when its code was on the list.

The ceiling on this tier differs too. BLCK caps it at ₹1,500 a cycle, as the original card did. The ORNGE terms table sets no cap on it.

The three ceilings, side by side

The original card stops at ₹3,500 in one cycle: ₹1,500 from Swiggy, ₹1,500 from online merchants, ₹500 from everything else. That last ceiling fills at ₹50,000 of ordinary spend.

BLCK stops at ₹4,000, because its 1% ceiling is ₹1,000, which takes ₹1,00,000 of ordinary spend to reach.

ORNGE has no fixed total. Its Swiggy and 1% tiers together stop at ₹2,500, and the uncapped 5% online tier sits on top of that.

What earns nothing, and what it costs

The exclusion list grows. All three cards earn nothing on fuel, rent, wallet loads, jewellery, government payments, gift cards, EMI, Smartpay, the SmartBuy portal, cash advances and foreign-currency purchases. ORNGE and BLCK add gaming (code 5816) and education to that list. Foreign spends carry a 3.5% markup on all three.

Fees and waivers:

  • Original card: ₹500 a year, renewal waived at ₹2L of annual spend.
  • ORNGE: ₹500 a year, renewal waived at ₹1.5L.
  • BLCK: ₹1,000 a year, renewal waived at ₹2L. The first year’s joining fee is waived on ₹75,000 of spend in 90 days.

The welcome benefit also differs. The original card came with 3 months of Swiggy One. ORNGE comes with 12 months of Swiggy One, and BLCK with 3 months of Swiggy BLCK membership. Neither new card includes airport lounge access.

A cycle, priced on all three

Take one cycle with ₹8,000 on the Swiggy app, ₹12,000 at listed online merchants and ₹25,000 on everything else. These amounts are assumptions for the arithmetic, not card terms.

On the original card that is ₹800 from Swiggy, ₹600 from online and ₹250 from the rest, so ₹1,650. BLCK pays the same ₹1,650, since none of its ceilings binds at this spend. ORNGE pays ₹400 from Swiggy, then the same ₹600 and ₹250, so ₹1,250, and the Swiggy rate accounts for the whole gap.

That pattern is ₹45,000 a cycle, or ₹5,40,000 a year, which clears the renewal waiver on all three cards. The numbers move once the shape changes. A larger share on Amazon or Flipkart settling under an off-list code widens the gap in favour of the new cards. A larger share at department stores widens it the other way.

What to check on your own statement

Start with the card name on the statement, since the rates follow the version you hold.

Next, check the Swiggy cashback line against the rate. On ORNGE it should be close to 5% of Swiggy spend. A figure near 10% means the statement is still on the original terms.

Then look at small orders. A Swiggy order under ₹249 that posted no cashback fell below the minimum, so nothing was due.

Last, look at online merchants that used to pay 5%. A department store or home decor purchase that now posts 1% is the list change, and it will repeat on every later order there.

The records behind this page are dated, one per card version. Krediit tracks the version in your wallet against your own spend, and shows how much of each cycle’s ceiling is left before you order.
