Wedding season · Part 1

Your wedding bills can pay for the honeymoon

Most cards pay nothing on gold jewellery. A few pay a lot, and some milestone cards count a jewellery bill like any other spend. Here is which is which, with each bank's own terms.

At the counter

Before you pay

Pay by card, in full

Tata Neu Infinity's 5% is for non-EMI card payments. Converting the bill to EMI drops it to 1.5%, and UPI on the RuPay card loses it.

Buy at a Tanishq store, and check the SMS

The extra NeuCoins are matched on the terminal IDs Tanishq gives the bank. Do a small swipe first and check the merchant name on the SMS.

Split across months above ₹6 lakh

Tata Neu Infinity pays 5% on up to ₹6 lakh a month and ₹18 lakh a year. Above that, put the balance on a milestone card.

Ask before a big jewellery swipe

Some banks approve jewellery charges selectively. A call to the bank before a ₹4 lakh bill saves a decline at the counter, and Diners cards need the store to accept Diners.

Terms as published by each issuer, checked 27 October 2026. Offers end on the dates shown and can change, so read the issuer's document before you pay. This page states what each card pays on an amount. It is not a recommendation to apply for any card; approval is the issuer's decision.
